You've done the work.

Touch is your call
Seven energy centers. Karen is trained to work every one of them.
Why It Didn’t Stick
Somatic bodywork for women who are feeling stuck, or not fully healed by traditional therapy or massage. The body has to feel safe and listened to in order to finally release.

You're not doing it wrong. You were handed half the tools.

Here is the part nobody says out loud: understanding what happened to you does not discharge it. Insight and release run on different systems, and nearly everything you were offered — therapy, books, good advice — was built for the first one. That isn’t a willpower problem. It’s a safety issue, and you can’t talk yourself into feeling safe.
01
Talk has a ceiling
Understanding reaches the part of you that thinks. It was never built to reach the part of you that braces.
02
Relaxing isn't regulating
An hour of pressure on a tight shoulder feels wonderful. It also leaves untouched the thing your nervous system is actually guarding.
03
You speak fluent trauma
Freeze. Fawn. The body keeps the score. You can name every one of them — and naming the room is not the same as walking out of it.
04
The all-clear never came
Scanning. Checking exits. Leaving your body when someone gets close. Your body is not betraying you — it is still standing guard, because nobody ever told it the danger passed.

You are not broken.
You are wounded.

And wounds are meant to heal
Perimenopause & What Comes With It

Your body changed the terms without asking you first.

Perimenopause rewrote the rules without consulting you. Sleep stopped working the way it used to. Desire went quiet, or went somewhere you cannot find it. Your body started behaving like a stranger who moved in and rearranged all the furniture. And your patience for pretending everything is fine ran all the way out.
01
Desire went quiet
Not gone, and not broken. Often it is a nervous system that has been running on alert so long there is nothing left over for wanting.
02
The body feels unfamiliar
Different shape, different sleep, different energy. Learning to live inside it again is real work, and it is work worth doing.
03
Your tolerance for nonsense is gone
Treat that as a feature. Something in you stopped being willing to override itself, and that is usually where this begins.
04
You are finally the priority
Most women arrive here at the point where they are ready to take care of themselves. That is not selfish. That is right on time.
Your Guide

Karen isn't here to fix you. She's here to guide your healing.

Twenty-five years of practice, and three of them spent inside a single certification. Somatic Experiencing® is a three-year training in how trauma settles into the body and what it takes to let go of it — case studies, supervision, and hours spent on her own nervous system before she was cleared to work on anyone else’s. She has since taken Peter Levine’s advanced classes in sexual trauma and pelvic floor dysfunction; he developed the method. This is not massage with softer lighting and a nicer playlist. It is a different discipline, built on one rule: you are in charge of your own body. Every session. Every minute. No exceptions.

“Thank you for telling me what you need.”
“We tend. We do not fix.”

What SEP Means

Three years to earn. Twenty-five to build on.

SEP stands for Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. It is a three-year certification in how a nervous system keeps bracing long after the danger has passed — and what it actually takes to convince it otherwise. Karen has since taken Peter Levine’s advanced work in sexual trauma and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Why she is hard to find
Not a bragging point. A driving distance.
A handful of counselors carry the certification, but they do not work with touch — and touch is the part your body has been waiting for. The next nearest option is a drive into Dallas, on a day your body is already asking a lot of you.

What that means on the table: the person with her hands on your back has spent three years studying the exact thing your body is doing right now.

What Actually Happens

How the body lets go.

Your nervous system does not speak in words. It speaks in jaw, breath, gut and grip, and it responds to being met there rather than reasoned with. So the work moves in a sequence, and it does not skip steps.
01
The body feels safe
Consent-led, clothes on, entirely at your say-so. Safety isn’t the good manners around the work. It’s the mechanism.
02
The body lets go
What has been clenched for a decade finally gets permission to stop. This is the real work, and it happens physically.
03
Your voice comes back
The no. The hell yes. The boundaries you’ve been outsourcing. They turn up again once your body stops guarding the door.
How to Start

Three steps. You control all three.

Step 01
Pick your session
Choose the work that meets you where you actually are — not where you assumed you’d be by now.
Step 02
Claim your time
Take a slot that fits your life. You have rearranged enough of it around everybody else.
Step 03
Tell us your terms
A short intake, so Karen knows your boundaries before you ever open the door.
You can stop at any step, including this one.

My first session at Mind Your Body was a very positive experience. Karen was compassionate, knowledgeable, and created a safe environment to explore difficult experiences. The session helped me better understand how my body holds stress and emotions, and I experienced a meaningful emotional release. I’m grateful for the experience and look forward to continuing the work.

I’ve been coming here for several years. Karen is an amazing certified Somatic practitioner and she has helped me feel safe in my body and process trauma in a supportive atmosphere. She has great recommendations and resources to share and I would highly recommend her for a somatic session or massage.
